FCCU Member-Owners Invited to 83rd Annual Meeting on June 17

05/31/2023

FORT ATKINSON, WI – Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) invites its member-owners to their 83nd Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 17 at 9:00 am in the Puerner Room at the Jefferson Office located at 100 North Main Street, Jefferson, WI 53549.

FCCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is ran by an elected, volunteer board of directors. A credit union’s annual meeting is a key point in the year for members to learn about its financial standing, performance, and strategic direction, as well as participate in the election of new board members. These board members serve a 3-year term to ensure that the credit union’s practices, policies, and vision match the interests of its member-owners.

Each FCCU accountholder is considered a member-owner, allowing them to have a say in how the credit union operates. Each member-owner is given one vote, regardless of how much they have on deposit, to elect board members to serve their interests. This structure directly contrasts for-profit financial institutions whose business decisions are made by a board of directors that serve the interests of shareholders.

Breakfast from neighboring Bon Ton Bakery and Catering will be served at 8:30 am and Scam SINGO, bingo with music, will be played after the meeting concludes. Members participating in Scam SINGO will listen to Golden Oldies music and have a chance to win prizes while learning how to spot and avoid common scam techniques.

“With fraud attempts on the rise, we want to help as many people in our community learn how to spot scams as possible,” said Jeffery Anderson, Director of Marketing at FCCU. “We’re excited for our members to participate in our Board elections, and we hope they walk away with valuable fraud prevention knowledge to help them identify and avoid any scams they could encounter.”

Members planning to attend in-person are asked to RSVP by June 13 by calling Jenn at 920-563-7305 or online at fortcommunity.com by navigating to the ‘Education & Resources’ section and selecting ‘events and seminars.’
