WATERTOWN, WI – Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) donated $75,000 to the capital campaign for the Watertown Area YMCA. The goal for the first phase of the project was $17.8 million, with the public phase set at $1.7 million. Phase one included a full YMCA facility to be located adjacent to the Ehlinger Center at The Collective. The new facility will replace the YMCA’s current Eighth Street location. The new facility will feature community gathering spaces, a large free weight center, fitness and immersive cycling studios, multipurpose program spaces, locker rooms, Kid’s Corner, and a large gymnasium and track.
“FCCU is proud to contribute to the Capital Campaign and support the needs of Watertown’s growing community,” said Sue Johnson, FCCU’s President and CEO. The Watertown Area YMCA, through quality programs, provides for the strengthening of families, the healthy development of children, positive individual behaviors, and a health, safer community for all. The programs emphasize caring, respect, honesty, character building, fun and friendship. The YMCA is a charitable organization which creates a sense of community through involving individuals and families of all ages, gender, ability, income, or race.
“We are so grateful for the Fort Community Credit Union’s continued support and especially thankful that they have deepened their impact in the work we do with this generous gift to the Watertown Area YMCA Capital Campaign” said Jon Lange, CEO of the Glacial Community YMCA. The YMCA has submitted a grant request of $4.5 million to complete funding for the entire project and include an aquatic center. They are asking for individuals in the community to reach out to public officials at the Department of Administration to show their support.
